Error 123 Renders HFS Volume Inaccessible: Perform HFS File Recovery Instantly

MAC Operating system is based on HFS file system. It is newly developed hierarchical file system which has replaced the Macintosh file system of MAC based computers. HFS file system is much more advanced in terms of performance and offers reliable data storage facility. However, sometimes you are unable to access your file system volumes due to error 123. This critical error makes the HFS volume inaccessible. Every time when you try to access the volume you receive below error message.

“-123 wrgVolTypErr Not an HFS volume [wrong volume type error or (obsolete) operation not supported for MFS]”

After the occurrence of above error message you try all possible efforts to access your inaccessible data but each time you receive the similar error message. In such dreadful situations you get panic as you don’t find any ways of HFS file recovery. In such cases only MAC data recovery solutions will help you to get back your lost or inaccessible data.

Usually error 123 occurs due to corruption of HFS file system which gets corrupted due to various unavoidable reasons as mentioned below:

  1. Unexpected shut down of system
  2. Abrupt power supply
  3. Corrupt file header
  4. Malfunctioning of hardware
  5. System crash
  6. Virus infections

Due to aforesaid reasons file system gets damaged and becomes inaccessible. When you try to access the HFS volume you receive various errors.

In order to fix error 123 and perform HFS file recovery you have to check the integrity of file system using FSCK command and then repair it using disk utility. Generally the error gets resolved after running Disk Utility but in case of it fails to repair the damage then you have to reformat the hard drive and reconstruct the file system.

You will lose your entire data after formatting so before it maintain valid backup so that you can get them back. But in case if you fail to maintain backup of file system then you can use MAC Data Recovery Software which can safely perform HFS file recovery even after formatting.
